26th edition Beeld voor Beeld Festival
April 28-May 5, 2016
Tolhuistuin, Framer Framed, Pakhuis De Zwijger, EYE Film Institute and FabCity Campus, Amsterdam
Beeld voor Beeld is a documentary film festival focusing on issues of cultural diversity. Rooted in visual anthropology, the festival screens documentaries on various sub/cultures offering discussions and seminars. The festival serves as a meeting place for film makers and audiences from different cultural backgrounds. All filmmakers will be present for a Q&A after the screening of their film. We welcome all productions addressing subjects of anthropology, sociology and dealing with social issues, and/or complying with the overall theme of the festival.
This year the festival will have a special edition focusing on the theme of:
Images of Migrations
The current flow of images of refugees has once again drawn the attention of the world towards the issue of migration. Migration is of all times and of all cultures. In this special edition we will screen films that deal with different forms of contemporary migrations. We will look at the consequences of these migrations, for the countries of refuge and adoption as well as for the different migratory communities. Special attention will be given to filmmakers from the different communities, documenting their lives and their new destinies. Although we will treat different forms of migrations the main focus will be on forced migrations.
